WHAT IS THE SPI?

The Workshop on Industrial Problem Solving (SPI) is an effort by CIMAT to promote the connection between different sectors of the Industry and the Academy. Its main purpose is to encourage interaction between researchers, industrialists, businessmen and students, through joint efforts to generate innovative solutions to problems submitted by companies from public, private and social sectors, in the areas of pure and applied mathematics, computer science, probability and statistics.

During the workshop, teams of postgraduate students and researchers will be formed and they will focus on generating solution proposals to the problems submitted by the companies. Each team will work together under the guidance of a researcher who will play the role of project leader. Reasearchers are nationally and internationally recognized for their research work, as well as for conducting business consultancy.

At the end of the workshop, each team will make a presentation to the company representatives to describe the solution proposed by the team. In addition, a technical report will be delivered to the company in order to be the basis for a future implementation of the solution.

The participants will receive a participation certificate with curricular value. Additionally, participation in this workshop may result in publications, new collaborations and/or thesis topics.

TO WHOM IS THE WORKSHOP ADDRESSED?

  • Graduate students (master's, doctorate and postdoctoral) in the areas of pure and applied mathematics, computer science, engineering, probability and statistics. Outstanding undergraduate students in the areas mentioned above are also invited.
  • Researchers in the areas mentioned above.
  • Companies from the public, private and social sectors. For information addressed to companies interested in submitting a problem to the workshop please visit spiempresas.eventos.cimat.mx site.
